This book is the story of an outstanding patriotic Serbian American, Dr. Spiro Sargentich. As the first Serbian graduate from the University of California in 1889, he soon became a physician, surgeon and soldier in both the Balkan wars and WW1. Through the agony of war and disease he was honored for his medical brilliance, relentless determination and sacrifice. He managed hospitals for the Russian and Montenegrin Army's, was an advisor to the War College in Washington D.C., and attended the WW1 Peace Conferences. He was known as one of the best and brightest physicians in the nation.
