The Didache, or the Teaching of the Twelve Apostles, is a 1st century ancient Christian writing. Most describe the work as a manual, or a discipleship guide for new Christians in the first century of the church's life. The work, though it has no known author, is a contemporary of the original Disciples of Jesus Christ and the first leaders and Apostles of the church. The Didache instructs newly Christened gentiles on daily living, worship, and church function. It is less on theology and more on daily living as a new convert to Christianity. It is an in-time snapshot on how new Christians were mentored and brought into the church, how the church worshiped, and how to participate in the sacraments. Church ethics and operation are also a topic in the Didache. The reader can take from this work a glimpse into 1st century Christian living and church life.
