Statistics show that many teens who grew up in church abandon it during their college years. This is in part due to them not being grounded in their faith before they get there. That disturbing trend is why this curriculum was born. It seems that Christian educators and churches do a good job telling their students what to believe but a terrible job explaining why they should believe it.
“ApologetiX: Equipping Generation Next” contains twenty-seven lessons that examine four critical areas of apologetics for teens: The Bible, False Teachings, the Resurrection, and Christian Ethics.
The material can be used as individual lessons or as an entire curriculum. You can also teach just one section of it and the lessons about that topic. The material is interactive and challenging. The goal is to help the students think through deep issues of the faith so that they won’t become a statistic. It will also embolden them to stand up for their faith and witness to others.
Dr. Chris Partin was first introduced to youth ministry as a nervous seventh grader entering a room filled with teens at the church his family had begun attending. His parents then forced him to get on the bus for the church camp they had already paid for, which he was trying to back out of. That camp experience led to his teenage years being filled with youth group events, missions, lasting friendships, and a deeper understanding of what it means to be a Christian. By the time he was in high school he was attending two churches and was actively involved in the youth ministries of both. These experiences led to a sense of calling into vocational youth ministry.
Dr. Partin spent almost fourteen years serving as a Youth Pastor in North Carolina and Florida. He now serves as Pastor of Plymouth Church in Raleigh, North Carolina. Dr. Partin received his Bachelor’s in Christian Education in 1996 and his Master’s of Divinity in 1999. In 2008, he earned his Doctorate of Ministry at Southern Evangelical Seminary with a focus in Youth Ministries. This curriculum was a significant part of his doctoral work.
Dr. Partin and his wife, Dawn, have three sons: Joey, Jonah, and Jacob. He has a heart that desires to see young people come to Christ, be prepared to defend their faith, and effectively reach this world filled with skeptics.
