Roots of Evil is a psychological thriller with a hint of the supernatural. It is set in Southern England in the 1980s, against a background of archaeology and family history.
Mark Denford, a young sales rep, having just parted from his girlfriend and therefore without a summer holiday, signs up for an archaeological dig, where he becomes aware of the sinister atmosphere of a wood. He is beset by a series of life-threatening events. Old documents in the Record Office and finds in the wood convince him that wrongs that happened several centuries ago are being avenged at his expense.
