Next to the 17 UN sustainability goals, urban-resilience including the threat of re-occurring pandemics gain more and more importance. The EU commission has launched the biggest funding programme in history. NextGenerationEU aims to boost the transition into a green and digital future. The equation digital+green=smart positively simplifies the objectives of the 17 UN SDGs, which are lacking of measurable success indicators. This book shows on 123 pages possible solutions like scalable projects to become a smart green city, village, or region. Moreover, it raises awareness of already available technologies and methodologies to strengthen the urban pandemic-resilience rates. Based on the pandemic-resilience indicators, more than 80 German Smart Cities were evaluated. Some of the indicators are urban biodiversity and the usage of emission-free technologies. In addition, you can find inspirations from international smart green cities projects like in China, Finland, Singapore, or Mexico.
As a take-away message you are going to find answers why climate protection and environmental regeneration strengthens urban resilience and makes the living in cities more enjoyable.
