In 1936, at the age of 18, Peter Mills, son of a Norfolk doctor,went in search of adventure. He sailed for Kenya, then sparsely populated, teeming with game, and almost untouched by civilization. He set out to hunt and explore but funds ran out and he had to find an income to avoid repatriation. In a remote police station he spoke to the Inspector in charge.
