"Akom" was composed in 2008 on commission from percussionist Jeremy Craycraft for the College of St. Scholastica. The piece is based on ceremonial music from Ghana. It is scored for five percussionists playing hand drums, bells, shekeres, and pedal bass drum, and features both notated and improvised performance elements. Duration: 9 minutes.
