Trees Proverbs 11:30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and he who wins souls is wise. In addition to being described as sheep and soldiers, trees play an important role in the life of a Christian believer. In the book of Genesis, Adam and Eve got in trouble over the decision they made about a tree (Genesis 2 – 3) and its fruit. In Genesis 3, Adam and Eve used leaves from a tree to try to hide their sin from God. They were put out of the Garden of Eden and denied access to a tree – the Tree of Life – because of their sin. Thousands of years later, Jesus – God the Son – came to this planet as a man and died on a tree to wipe out forever the damage done by Adam and Eve – because of a tree. Trees are used in the Bible as symbols of growth and non-growth; strength or weakness; and fruitfulness (Psalm 1; Luke 13:6-9). The fruit of trees in the Bible represent how spiritually productive we are as God's people.
