It is 1916, and Lt A F Murrell, 2nd Batallion, 107th Foot (Royal Sussex Regiment), 128th Pioneers, buys the best camera he can afford to record his World War One experiences in the North West Frontier.
As a historian and lover of the natural world, images of buildings, people and landscapes all caught his imgination, and once home in 1920 he put together an album of his best pictures, all carefully annotated.
This first volume covers 1916 to 1917 and his travels in Lucknow, Nowshera, Cherat, Tank, the Simla Hills, and Lahore. Relive Shoeing the Buffalo, visiting the Bazaar in Cherat, the heat of Tank border crossing and many other stories told in contemporary pictures not seen for almost 90 years.
