Mulak Man is a traditional story from Grand Ronde people, originally retold by tribal members Velma Hudson Mercier and Ila Hudson Dowd, and passed down through generations. In the Grand Ronde's tribal language of Chinuk Wawa, 'Mulak Man' means 'elk man.' Today, Grand Ronde tribal members honor this tradition by participating in ceremonial hunts, ensuring that every part of the animal is used, letting nothing go to waste. This practice shows respect for the animal, acknowledging the life it gave for the Tribe.
