Endangered Species

From the first shining interweaving lines honoring her two grandfathers, to the final tender encounter with a city locksmith, Cynthia Bruckman’s sparkling poems are acts of connectedness: between the generations and the sexes, with childhood and neighbors, with the wild kingdom. Serious or whimsical, urban and bright, Bruckman tells us that, finally, it is we who are the “endangered species,” and that it is a “miracle” that we find each other. “I do adore the dance” she says, as she bids us to rise and dance with her. -Pat Fargnoli
