This is an introductory analysis text, which has been successfully used for two decades. It covers the theorems and proofs of single-variable calculus.
Traditional analysis texts tend to throw the student into the water, hoping that he or she will swim. In contrast, this book provides the diligent student with a bridge to march across.
Before complex concepts are introduced, they are broken down into smaller, manageable concepts. The student is given ample opportunity to practice these simpler concepts in appealing, common sense applied situations before learning to combine them in an abstract situation.
Moreover, the book unrelentingly presents the thought processes that a student needs to go through in order to properly learn the material. Specifically, almost all the material is presented algebraically and geometrically at the same time. Accompanying rigorous proofs, throughout the book, are pictorial interpretations and explanations through some basic ideas from physics.
