Successful Photojournalist Durbin Caldwell, driving cross-country from New York to Los Angeles, is suddenly crippled en route by a heart attack. Alone in the California desert, Durbin is brutally accosted by a gang of highwaymen. But the sudden appearance of a Bedouin family saves his life. However, Durbin’s problems are only beginning, for with his newfound friends, and a renegade government agent, Durbin finds himself a helpless link pulled by strange forces in a greater chain of events in a post 9/11 America, an America shut down and crippled by extreme xenophobia. On a new course, Durbin’s life seems set, and possibly…that of the entire world.
