Homer's epic poem the Iliad gives an account of a short period during the course of the Trojan War - from the start of the quarrel between Akhilleus and Agamemnon over a slave girl to the funeral rites of the truly noble Trojan prince Hektor. It encompasses war, the pursuit of glory, partisan gods, suffering, tragedy and fate.
This is a verse translation, with notes and maps, by David Bolton.
