In the tale, “An Apocalyptic Love Story,” a widower left behind after a biological warfare virus, spends his days – and mostly nights – trying his best to survive by hunting down the infected and putting them out of their misery.
That is, until a familiar face in the crowd of rabid, homicidal lunatics catches his eye, as well as short but sweet messages scrawled in blood on his back door. He realizes now that not only true love never dies, but there are fates worse than death, too.
In the Twilight Zone-ish tale, “Wander,” a young woman just ejected from the county jail finds herself on the streets of a now barren, war-torn wasteland that used to be her home town.
As she wanders the empty streets, it doesn't take her long to realize that her own prison – the one she has created for herself with a life of crime - makes that county jail cell seem mild in comparison.
And in the tale, “Two Men Sitting On A Porch Talking About The End Of The World,” two lifelong friends, both of them slowly but surely dying from the deadly Covid 5 strain, spend their last day on Earth doing just that – sitting on a porch, chatting and enjoying each other's company one last time, finally realizing that it was these sweet, simple things in life that meant the most, but didn't realize it until it was too late.
