This initial book of the series is based on my experiences as a Consultant in various companies over the last few years when in the role of Contract Engineer, Supply Chain Analyst and otherwise focal point of potential supplier’s enquiries. These may range from email enquiries, cold calling, mailshots, random telephone calls and, in general, they are mainly just bad habits of sales and marketing people.
I then decided to list the typical poor approach to enquiries with a certain air of frustration which could be a short document as to how not to do it!! This I hoped could be used as a learning tool for sales people so other employees at the rough end of such enquiries would not be subjected to time wasting, frustration and corresponding high blood pressures issues!
When discussed with various sales/marketing people, they all saw many examples of what they thought was the right way to access a new client and were suitably shocked to find the effect on the client they were targeting.
