Ecclesfield: Southport's Forgotten Suburb takes an in-depth look at the area formerly known as Ecclesfield within Southport. Chapter one focuses on a particular branch of the Eccles family from Ainsdale and how they married into the Ball family of South Hawes- the area from which the town of Southport grew. Chapter two looks at how Ecclesfield can lay claim to be Southport's first 'new' suburb, with chapter three looking at local people that lived in Ecclesfield including a link to James Joyce's novel, Ulysses. The final chapter discusses how & when the name of Ecclesfield fell out of use.
