Comprehensive Local Food System Planning

Planners in local jurisdictions, by paying attention to public activism, can proactively assist communities who want to work towards changing the built environment. As part of my research biases, I hypothesized that sustainable agriculture, a social movement, could be aligned with food system planning to create a synergistic complement. Paired with a community food system, sustainable agriculture could be harnessed, like sunlight in the photosynthesis equation; this pair of concepts, incorporating sustainable agriculture and food systems planning, could be a central strategy to thinking globally and acting locally.
