Some cities keep secrets. Tokyo keeps a whole world. Eleven-year-old Miles Calloway came to Tokyo with one plan: survive a year far from home without being noticed. His little sister Madison had other ideas, starting with befriending shrine statues outside their tiny apartment. Then mysterious things start happening: the small fox that sits in the rain without getting wet, the persistent glowing aura, and the lantern drifting along the shrine wall with no hand to carry it.
