This book reveals that no amount of intellectual understanding can unveil what you already are. To embrace eternal essence, you must let go of attachments to the temporary. "Let essence attend to essence itself." Like a fish searching for the wetness of water, which it is already in, we are preoccupied with intellectual understanding. Our attention is never on our true self, on what we really are. Instead, we focus on names and forms, not on that which animates the physical. All the man-made methods prescribed that add to your already burdened mind will yield mental results because the mind cannot reach that place; otherwise, it would already know what it is. The mind, including the ego as the rejector, needs to be completely rejected. For this to happen, one doesn’t need to do or undo anything, as doing and not doing are actions of the ego.
