The Orgia

The Orgia Time to tell this story. Far too long has this tale been sidelined and held in limbo. The underlying power of the Feminine has been undervalued, distorted, and unappreciated. As a man of a feminine world of some consequence, I am obligated to open the heart of the matter and expose a time when sisterhood was powerful. The narrative goes like this. When Sisterhood Was Powerful The word orgy is ancient, more so than many can imagine. Search using any device yields very little. The same is true for its companion Orgia. A veil has been drawn to shelter us from knowing in both cases, leading to ignorance. Here the curtain is pulled, exposing what I consider the origin of orgy and Orgia. Contrary to what we’ve been told, orgiastic practices were not separated into two camps, sacred and profane, at the beginning. They comprised an integrated whole, a sex party, including sexual activity, sexual fantasy, and group sex using multiple sexual partners. The common perception of profane orgies in the classical ancient world is presented as wild affairs, including unrestrained dancing, snake handling, and lust. Sacred orgies, the Orgia, rites housed in pagan temples had a spiritual objective and were much older and more complex than their profane counterpart. Close investigation reveals the goal of the sacred orgy as a state of consciousness meant to bring the individual into direct contact with the Divine. Sexual intercourse specifically, in conjunction with other forms of human creativity like music, dance, fasting, meditation, prayer, and hallucinogenic drugs. The ancients used them to produce intense feelings of well-being, elation, happiness, excitement, and joy, placing them in a state of Grace, later redefined as a state of Flow.
