He intended to journey alone, across the barren wastelands and over the mountains. He wished to find a land spoken of by those deemed simple of mind, a fantasy created by the foolish.
Paul the drifter and loner is forced by the circumstances to bring others into his world, Erin, the rust haired angel and Shayne, the mute orphan child. He knows them as children of the dust, they who have lived their entire lives in poverty, in a world lacking any form of hope.
They take their journey into the bowels of the slum, to escape those who allow poverty to rule. They travel beneath the city where others have feared to go and across the northern desert toward the mountains.
Can the ragtag band secure a bond as they seek the promised land of foolish old men? Will Paul, who desired to search for a better world on his own terms, open his heart enough to let in the two children of the dust? And will Paul and Erin welcome the consummation of an unexpected love?
