Discussion. If vou allow involuntary abortion how can you refuse voluntary euthanasia? As of 2011 some forms of voluntary euthanasia are legal in Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and the U.S. states of Oregon and Washington. Euthanasia brings about many ethical issues regarding a patient’s death. Some physicians say euthanasia is a rational choice for competent patients who wish to die to escape unbearable suffering. Others feel that aiding in the patient’s death goes against a physician’s duty to preserve life. The ethics of the AVE/PVE are complex and yet seem to be based on a whole range of underlying and conflicting values. Doctors say that the value of a human life is "beyond price", but who will pay that price in the USA and in developing countries? Can we justify paying a billion dollars of health resources each year for 8000 PVS patients in the USA, while in the world, millions of normal babies die from lack of health resources.
