1.1 Introduction The R programming language is a powerful tool that is widely used for data analysis, statistical computing, and graphical representation. The R programming language is an open-source language. Developed in the early 1990s by Ross Ihaka and Robert Gentleman at the University of Auckland, R has since become a vital tool for statisticians, data scientists, and researchers worldwide. It is widely used for developing statistical software and data analysis. R provides a wide variety of statistical (linear and nonlinear modelling, classical statistical tests, time-series analysis, classification, clustering,) and graphical techniques, and is highly extensible. The S language is often the vehicle of choice for research in statistical methodology, and R provides an Open Source route to participation in that activity.
