The Drifter

Will James was raised on a dry land farm in Kansas and joined the cavalry at age eighteen. His dream was to see the west and fight Indians. Instead, he was sent east to fight in the Civil War. After fighting in nearly all of the major battles of the war, he mustered out and headed back to his folk’s home in Kansas, older and much wiser than when he’d left. What he found and didn’t find there sent him on a search, and implanted in him a desire to see the country he’d longed for as a younger man. Adventure and opportunity awaits Will at nearly every turn in a road that leads to sorrow, disappointment and unwanted wealth. Would Will settle down and build a fortune or cling to a life as the drifter he had become?
