Working Out! is the first of six puzzle books from the associates of Dvanda Masda. It offers solutions to problems of the Life Fantastic, in the most diverting crosswords in English; all originals --no retreads-- a class of publication at reasonable cost made possible by Lulu. Some new techniques are developed, such as arresting news of discovery: A Roman governor, having given his word to appear at a function, is carried in dead! To be unfaithful is natural -- as demonstrated by fleas. An unmasked banker is revealed as “a former breeder of pedigree pets.” Drugged mice make time with bats! Providers of the usual daily pap like to “admit” that our puzzles are torture. It helps to prevent their victims straying in search of more satisfying fare.
