The Phoenix and the Carpet is a wonderful story about five children whose mother purchases a new carpet to replace the one that was destroyed in a fire. The children find an egg in the carpet which hatches which becomes a Phoenix that talks which tells them that the carpet is magical and will grant them several wishes a day in which they partake of many magical adventures.
