Buddy grew up in Brooklyn, New York in the 1940's. After his mother died and father remarried, his family moved to Queens where they lived above Wacker's Bakery, on Jamaica Avenue. Buddy's father drove the bus on that route, under the el. The biography follows Buddy as he stumbles through life in New York, joins the Navy and sees the world, moves to California on his own and becomes a college student, continues his education in Oregon, serves in the Peace Corps in Micronesia, and finishes a teaching career in Virginia.
