The Blessing Game is a forensic-free birth mystery. The novel begins on a recent Labour Day weekend when Anna Taylor, Head of the school, discovers a foundling on her front verandah. While searching for the baby’s parents as well as the thief of the new laptops, Anna and her long-time friends--witty, academic Chris and saint-like chaplain Mary--run the school and its church with humor, efficiency and compassion.
A troubled journalist, a charming businessman, a drunken neighbor, an idealistic prefect, an ineffective Assistant Head and an imperious lady are but a few of the characters.
Anna is the sixth-generation Taylor to live in the elegant house on her farm. The farm’s businesses are now her school, her cousin’s riding stable and another cousin’s winery. She preserves untouched a corner of the farm: the treasured indigenous Carolinian forest and a stretch of Sixteen-Mile Creek. The characters and the school are fictional; the Region of Niagara is beautifully real and really beautiful.
