A pocket manual for daily prayer, fasting, and Scripture — for the gathered fellowship of the Assemblies of the Way and for any Christian who wants to pray the hours.
Part One contains the complete daily prayer hours: the Lord's Prayer and the fellowship's creed spoken each morning, the fixed hours from dawn to midnight, and the full psalm texts for each hour in the King James Version. The hours are grounded in the practice of the earliest church. The Didache instructed believers to pray the Lord's Prayer three times daily. By the early third century, Tertullian and Cyprian witness to five fixed points of prayer through the day, each one anchored in the hours of the cross and resurrection.
Part Two covers fasting: the Wednesday and Friday fast that has marked Christian practice since the first century, the fast before baptism, the Holy Week fast leading to the Great Pascha Vigil, and fasts called in seasons of crisis or discernment.
Part Three is a daily Scripture reading calendar — the whole Bible in a year, including the deuterocanonical books received by the pre-Nicene church through the Septuagint, in Septuagint order. Five psalms each day, cycling through all one hundred and fifty psalms more than twelve times in the year.
The Assemblies of the Way is a movement of small, gathered communities walking the ancient path of the primitive church.
