if i was a boy, i'd be scared. damn near terrified. i'd be lonely. if i've learned one thing while working on my book and interviewing all of the guys i have interviewed, it's that i don't want to be a boy because being a boy is a lonely place to be. there's not as much hugging or kissing or holding with friends. there isn't a lot of honesty and communication and sleepovers where you cry and take turns rubbing each other's backs. i love boys, i really do. but i worry about them. they seem to exist on these islands that only allow one visitor at a time and even then, there's no promise that they'll bring resources.
