When it comes to Reliant three-wheelers, whilst the Reliant Regal may be Reliant’s best-selling three-wheeler and the Reliant Robin the most famous, the Bond Bug is perhaps its most iconic with its futuristic shape and bright Tangerine colour. The Bond Bug was a product of its time, built during Reliant’s heyday years when they could dare to produce something different. Designed and built for the younger generation as a fun vehicle that offered economical motoring, it found some success, although perhaps not necessarily with the generation it was aimed at. Despite early manufacturing issues and production figures being far less than anticipated the Bug, once launched, was envisaged by various members of the motoring press to be the cult classic of the future, and they were certainly right. Following its demise in 1974, the Bug made a come back in the 1990s, initially as a four wheeled WMC Bug. This was followed by further attempts at Reliant to bring the Bug back into production yet no matter how close they got, destiny would get in the way.
This is the story off the Bond Bug from its inception to all that followed bearing its name, all captured for the first time in a single book.
