Serpentine Flow

Serpentine Flow investigates the continuous evasive movement of Capoeira. The Brazilian martial art describes the blurred boundary between different social groups and induces spontaneous social conditions. The proposal challenges the concrete boundary established by the authorities between Santa Marta Favela of Rio de Janeiro and the rainforest. Through a hidden tunnel entrance in the favela, you descend into an anarchic underground world beneath the rainforest. A continuous ramp space winds through eight different programmed spaces, providing much needed amenities for the children and community of the favela.
