The Beginning.
Durban, South Africa. 1983
A land of hope and dreams
Ryan Ellebeck, a nineteen-year-old young white male, finds himself struggling with numerous issues in his life.
Having failed his first year as a law student, he is enrolled into the South African police force through compulsory conscription, and after completing his training, returns to Durban.
On his return, he finds himself in a field tracking unit, within the murder and robbery division and is partnered by seasoned veteran detective sergeant Jacob Zita, who is nearing retirement.
The two men are assigned to gather information for investigators, on a case of bank robberies taking place within the region and come across information that changes everything, including their lives.
Unsure on how to deal with what they have uncovered, and based on the decisions they make, the events take them into a spiralling world of political mayhem, as the struggle for liberation and freedom begin to explode before their very eyes.
Part II- A quiet town in a busy country
South Africa: 1993
Being forced to run for his life, Ryan Ellebeck finds himself in the small coastal village of Fresh Water Port.
Over the past nine years, he and love interest Carol Buske have built a quiet, yet simple life for themselves, until one evening while out fishing, Ryan uncovers a plot that will jeopardize everything they have built.
His only option is to create a diversion, to move the situation away from the small rural village and reluctantly decides to contact his old partner Jacob Zita, who at this point has retired from service.
Their plan becomes severally derailed by a number of actions which take place, but when Carol is taken hostage, everything changes. It is the one thing they should never have done.
Jackie Braun, a brilliant detective having taken over Ryan’s position in the Murder and robbery unit, is put onto the case by Captain Johan Brits, who is trying to establish why the head of the police security branch, is so hell bent on implicating Ellebeck in the terrorist activities and murder of his family nine years back.
Struggling with her own inner demons, she finds herself in a place she cannot exit. The situation becomes far more complicated than she anticipated, as she is drawn into a world of unparalleled manipulation and murder.
