The Real Criminal follows Detective Mony, a tech-savvy detective in Dhaka, as he pursues the vigilante hacker known as "The Translator." The killer executes corrupt officials by exploiting weaknesses in city infrastructure, such as traffic control and hospital elevators, while garnering public support via a Dark Web auction. Mony, whose changing spectacles symbolize his search for clarity, discovers the killer's motive is revenge for his father’s pension being denied.
The investigation leads to a startling revelation: Mony's trusted colleague, Inspector Riaz, is the "Insider" who frames Mony as The Translator. Now a fugitive, Mony races to confront the true mastermind, Tanvir Islam, on a skyscraper rooftop. Tanvir is preparing to execute a total wipe of the National Pension Database for "system equality." Mony, however, doesn't block the attack. Instead, he covertly reroutes the killer's worm to approve Tanvir's father’s file posthumously, sending the funds to his favorite orphanage. This final act of justice, not destruction, causes Tanvir to break down and surrender.
With the threat neutralized and justice served through ethical hacking, Mony receives a new, clear pair of spectacles, finally seeing the world without cracks or fog. The story concludes with Mony ready to document his experience, symbolizing a system reboot and the triumph of integrity over vengeance.
