Herbert Randall volunteered to fight when he was 15 years old, but registered as age 19, and spent the years 1914-1918 in the trenches of France and Flanders. By the time he was killed in the final stages of the war he was a sergeant and held the DCM and yet was still under 20. He is buried in Meath Cemetery in France.
