Frank Herrmann
Frank Herrmann is currently a painter living and working in Cincinnati,
Ohio. He is Professor Emeritus of Fine Arts, School of Art, College of
Design, Architecture, Art and Planning, University of Cincinnati. He
holds a BA from Western Kentucky University and an MFA from the
University of Cincinnati.
He has exhibited regionally, nationally and internationally. His work is
held in numerous private, corporate and public collections including the
University of Cincinnati, The Foundation and Center for Contemporary
Art in Prague, Czech Republic and the Grand Rapids Museum of Art,
Grand Rapids, MI.
Frank has been awarded numerous grants and artist fellowships
including a 2006 John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Fellowship.
Grants include Ohio Arts Council Project Grant 2001, Ohio Arts Council
Individual Artist Fellowship 1983, 1986, 2001; Arts Midwest NEA 1990,
Summerfair Individual Artist Fellowship 1983, 2000, University of
Cincinnati Research Council Grant 1983, 1990, 1999, 2002 & 2001;
Authors, Editors, Composers Award from the Friends of the UC Libraries,
and the Dean's Award for Excellence in Teaching in 1997.
He has been awarded an international artist residency at Castle
Cimelice, Czech Republic Through the Ohio Arts Council in
partnership with The Foundation and Center for Contemporary Art in
Prague, Czech Republic and was in residence at The Studios, MASS
MoCA, N. Adams, Massachusetts.
