Superhuman is a book about a 14-year-old boy that randomly has a stroke in the middle of the night. He wakes up with brain damage, an impending neck fusion, and no idea why he had a stroke. His brain function is impaired- leaving him unable to write a sentence, see beyond his elbow, or wake up "correctly". He sleeps for 21+ hours at first, and occasionally wakes up into a state of sleep paralysis. In this bizarre state of semi-consciousness, he finds god-like power. He undergoes an unbelievably painful spinal fusion to prevent a stroke from ever happening again, and is unable to eat for days. When he finally looks in the mirror after the surgery, he realizes that he both looks and feels like a zombie. It took him 15 months to recover, and Superhuman details it all.
