Bible Overview

This is a survey of the Bible from Genesis to Revelation with an emphasis on the key people: Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, Joshua, Saul, David, selected prophets in the Old Testament, Jesus, and the Apostles. Paul’s four missionary journeys in the New Testament are also covered. Timelines are given for the entire Bible and a brief description of each book of the Bible. The course includes many maps. The approach for this study is to focus on key people when studying the Bible for the first tim and then fill in the blanks in later studies. The material is self-explanatory for a person familiar with Bible study but anyone studying the Bible for the first time would probably need the help of a good teacher. We consider these as basic training for Christians. Most of this material is available in a good study Bible or reference books but inmates usually cannot afford such resources. All of these lessons have been used in jail or prison settings.
