HOW PUBLIC ART WORKS (Full Color version) is an in-depth look at public art projects as processes. It explores how public art projects fit in to the various systems of public policy and comprehensive planning in a variety of sample cities. The book has 27 chapters in 82 pages, and is illustrated with 75 pictures, six framework maps (including 2 sample budgets), two city maps, and in the appendices, nine slide frames. HOW PUBLIC ART WORKS would be of interest to arts enthusiasts, artists, public policy makers, and community leaders. It covers the arguments for having public art in a community as well as the pitfalls and hurdles. It presents the elements of successful public art versus the project that can become an “albatross.” I’m publishing this book in two formats: First as a book filled with full color pictures and illustrations, fully referenced, of coourse. Second is the same book with all the same illustrations, but in black ink only. I sincerely hope you will find the book useful.
