This historical novel is based closely on the dramatic life of Thomas Fairfax, Commander in Chief of the Parliamentary New Model army during the English Civil wars. It is a story of power and politics, courage and betrayal. Fairfax opposed the execution of the King and was also largely responsible for the restoration of the monarchy under Charles 11.
