George Storrs' unparalleled 6 sermons on the final destruction of the wicked and the immortality of the soul has been radically altered perspectives since the 1850s. [See the testimony below.] It became something of a standard work on this topic among all the Advent groups. This is the 1855 Second Edition from the University of Chicago, which includes an additional sermon, "Christ the Life-Giver" or "The Faith of the Gospel," added because the underlying bible doctrine was then referred to as "Immortality only in Christ." Regarding the Immortality Question: "We would recommend to our readers Storrs' Six Sermons on this subject." - Review and Herald, November 22nd, 1853. This book was sold by the Review Office. See the Review and Herald of May 9th, 1854. In the Review and Herald of April 18th, 1854, Brother Pierce writes: "...in 1843 I was handed a paper containing Bro. Storrs' six sermons on the final destruction of the wicked. This was as much as I could stand, having always been taught the old theory that the wicked would live eternally in hell, or that they would die the second death and be destroyed, but yet live and never die. Here, for the first time I must acknowledge that my underpinning was all knocked away. But after diligently and carefully comparing them with the unerring standard of eternal truth, which must finally try all our actions, I embraced that truth also."
