Reflections: Collected Poems

This book contains Finkel’s poetic output over the last twelve years and shows his experimental approach to traditional and modern poetic forms. The subjects are wide ranging, some quite serious, and some qualify as light verse - but all reflect his personal thoughts. What comes through is the philosophical perspective on his life and times, sometimes with great intensity and often with humor. The reader will find the diversity of forms, style, and subject matter of great interest. Born in Newark, N.J., Gerry Finkel was educated in the public school system and attended Dartmouth College and Harvard Medical School where he received his M.D. degree in 1959. A career in Pathology occupied the next forty years. Although he has always maintained a keen interest in all the arts, he first started writing poetry after his retirement in 1999.
