Indispensable Faith

On the day after 9/11, Sam Harris - long-time student of comparative religion - began his best-seller "The end of faith" arguing for the supremacy of reason. For him "fact is sacred." Now Ginny Findlow [Australian family doctor/family therapist from 1975-2000]responds from within a half-century of personal faith commitment to argue passionately for supremacy of the spirit. For her the human person is sacred. As a clinician Ms Findlow traces the psychological sequelae for the man/woman in the street of the increasingly aggressive post-1960's attack on traditional religious belief by combined feminism/atheism - symptomatic of society's current rejection of authority/the male perspective. A mixture of evolution, psychology and theology is used to display the reasonable-ness of a faith-choice, and the voluntary nature of such an undertaking in response to an experience of God's love.
