Gigue for Chamber Ensemble was commissioned by Decus Ensemble situated in London, the United Kingdom. The piece was arranged on April 7, 2022, at the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Nigeria. It is based on a Yoruba folksong, “Owo o, Omo o, ma m’omo se ire” (Money and children are both desired; I will embrace and revere them). It is an advance and complex piece infused with intricate rhythmic patterns, contrapuntal techniques, canonic imitations, and a brief transition of tonal centers from the home key of F major at the beginning to D-flat major, B-flat major, and finally finds repose in the home key of F major in measure 89 through the end.
