In September, October, and November 1918, Blue Book Magazine presented three novellas by Edgar Rice Burroughs. Blue Book Magazine featured many of the top writers of the day, including Zane Grey and others, and had already published many of the famous Tarzan and John Carter of Mars stories by Burroughs. Although the magazines didn't feature an adventure theme on the covers until years later, it was the work of fantasy and adventure writers that made the monthly publication a success.
The three installments from the fall of 1918 comprised what was later published (in 1924) as the book, The Land That Time Forgot. Popularly known as the Caspak Series, these three segments of the book were published as separate short novels, beginning in the 1960s,but are legitimately a single extended novel.
As time marches on, more books from Edgar Rice Burroughs fall into public domain, giving modern readers a chance to experience the thrill of one of the most original minds and talented writers of the early 20th Century.
