In the late 40s many of the superheroes were starting to fade away, but the western was becoming more popular than ever. Fawcett retitled their once-popular Wow Comics into REAL WESTERN HERO (just WESTERN HERO starting with #76) and populated it with cowboys and lawmen who were some of the most popular wranglers of their day: Hopalong Cassidy, Tom Mix, Gabby Hayes, and Monte Hale! True, in many cases their day had long passed (and Tom mix himself had been gone for many years) but it was their legend, their character and their exciting adventures which Fawcett brought back to life.
