On the eve before Hazel was inexplicably consigned to institutional care, under which she became lost to the world of incompetent care in only 7 days as the first week (of unnecessarily excrutiating pain and horror)of her last 78 days of life and metastasized breast cancer, her son, the artist Hanpo, encouraged these drawings. Hanpo then colorized them, first as an attempt to sell them to raise funds to pay enough home care staff to bring Hazel back home to die and then, to gloriously remember a parent lost and to give this treasure of simple, naive art to the world. This catalog vividly displays the first and final drawings of Hazel Elaine Fox Muller.
