A Soldier's Sketches Under Fire

Harold Harvey was not a war artist,but an artist who went to war in 1914.This is clear from his drawings which were completed at the time when he had a respite from the fighting.The sketches give us a valuable insight to particular time and place and of Harold Harvey's talent to capture the moment. It is nearing the centenary of the beginning of what was known as the Great War. For many people it represents a long forgotten conflict with no relevance to the 21st Century, however the modern world was made on the fields of Flanders and beyond between 1914 - 1918. The Kean Guides World War 1 series tells of the personal cost of this conflict , by republishing dairies, recollections and observations our aim is to educate and encourage study of this War to keep alive the memories of those who went through the hell and survived ,and for the many who sacrificed their lives.
