Malcolm Woodland, formerly a decorated agent in Shynian Intelligence, has now left the Agency. Looking for a bit of peace and a fresh start, he hung up his shingle as a private detective. Living now as one of the few humans in a city filled with elves, he works to find a place for himself in his new home. At the same time, the Agency continues looking for him to get information from him that he left without telling them and a mysterious man stalks one of his oldest friends. Can he avoid the Agency and protect Night, while working on cases that bring him face-to-face with members of organized crime and pit him against members of the local constabulary? Some people, it seems, don't know how to live the quiet life.
